The ACI-FSC Education Committees seminar series - part #4 of “concrete 101” was held at the Cemex St. Petersburg Ready Mix Plant location and hosted by our team leader Chris Britt, Tech Services Manager and his two assistants – Wayne DeMarco, Concrete Lab Manager and Chris Walz, Sr. Lab Technician.  This brought us full circle from parts 1-3, demonstrating the full production of concrete from raw materials,  testing and delivery.  Chris also included an open discussion on available careers in all areas of material suppliers through ready mix driver.  More than a dozen students from pTEC showed up and had many questions to ask.  We will start this series again in the winter section at pTEC and look forward to our relationship with them.

Well the golf outing was a big success!!  Thanks to all for your support in this and I do not believe a day could have turned out any better.  The gator on the 15th hole was sunning for all to see as Mr. Thor Moody, from Deslauriers was able to pull out a win for the closest to the pin award and was rewarded with a 4-some of golf at Lexington Oaks.  Be nice to him and you may be able to tag along.  Ray Fox’s team from W.R. Grace took second place for a Carrabba’s gift card for all the players to enjoy lunch or dinner.  The winners for the 2010 ACI-FSC Golf Tournament are…drum roll please…..Universal Engineering!!  They won gift cards to Carrabba’s for lunch or dinner.  CONGRATS to all of the players that helped make it a great event.  Pictures are from Tara Ackerman and Chris Haley as they drove around and chatted about the chickens.  Tough life, huh!!  Hope all had a wonderful time and we will see you next year!!
