Well summer break is all over.  Good for most of us who have kids.  Bad for those of us who have to deal with the school buses.  We did have a nice Happy Hour at Champps.  Some showed up, but a few more would be nice.  The September 8th presentation by Mr. Don Wade gave us some fulfilling information on Pervious Concrete.  Don Wade is a NRMCA Certified Pervious Concrete Craftsman & Consultant and is Owner/ Manager of PCCS. He has more than 25-years of experience with Pervious Concrete systems in both Design & Construction. Don also offers on-the-job training classes for Contractors wanting to get into the Pervious Concrete business.  Lots of questions came up and he was ready to answer them all.  Next meeting on October 13th  is set to be on lightweight concrete, so please be sure to attend the luncheon.

The 2010 Holiday Party was a huge success this year. Fun was to be had all around. The evening was spent at The Columbia Restaurant in downtown Ybor City. Parking was simple, dinner was buffet (and plenty of it), drinks, cigar rolling and the Flamenco Dancers, WOW! What an evening! Anyways, check out the pictures. As we all know:  ACI is all about education.  Well once again the Education Committee has stepped up to help our fine folks at pTEC, led by Mr. Guy LeVan of American Cement.

The first of a four part series “concrete 101” was held at pTEC in St. Petersburg on Thursday November 18^th.   Guy LeVan was the team leader with help from Tony Olivera, the presentation centered on the concrete mix and materials.  There were 35 students present and many were asking good questions about concrete and some of the areas of potential employment.  The 2^nd part of this four part series will be concrete field testing and its equipment, Tony Olivera will be the team leader assisted by Terry Taulbee and Chris Britt.  This next seminar/demonstration will take place sometime in early January 2011.
