LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts. More information about LEED can be located on the
USGBC Website.

As a follow up to our October presentation on LEED, member Luis Graf forwarded information on a joint publication from the PCA and NRMCA titled Ready Mix Concrete Industry LEED Reference Guide (2nd Ed.). Per the NRMCA website, "This guide will help you educate specifiers about the energy saving and pro-environmental benefits of concrete and how it may fit into projects that are to be LEED Certified. It also supports your profitability with information to help you improve your business’ and concrete’s environmental performance." The guide can be downloaded free of charge or copies may be purchased.
